Comic Schedule/Page Preview

I'm sorry to announce this at the last minute, folks, but there will be no comic update today, and possibly not one next week either.

Currently I'm crunching professional animation, and additionally I also have exams and the holidays to think about.  Ergo, I can't update at this moment in time.

However, when I can focus on this comic again, I'll try to update more than once a week to make up for lost storytelling time.

Finally, here's a preview image for the next comic:

Now go enjoy the winter weather!  Go tobogganing.  Tobogganing is awesome.  I'll see you good folks in a week or two.

Preview for the Next Page!

Alright folks, you've waited long enough, the next page is....!

....Not done yet.  Saturday, remember?  But, here's a preview for it:

You may notice that widget clean-up has been done on the sidebars as well.  There's a new Paypal donation option right above the topwebcomics.com vote button.  The idea is that if you really like the page (like, say the one coming up), you can donate.  In return, if you donate 5$ or more, I'll send you a collected edition PDF of one of the previous chapters, or preview art like what you're seeing above.

Funds through donation will be put to running the site, advertising, offering compensation to the beta readers,  and occasionally evading starvation.

Thanks for bearing with me!

Happy Halloween, Everyone!

I must say, it was really fun dressing up the current cast in costume.  Raina is dressed up as a pirate, complete with AquaCutlass, her sister Fiume's in a mermaid costume, and Bill is dressed up as a dog.

So, aside from making fun Halloween pictures, I will be launching lots of fireworks with my folks and my friends (In a safe, legal way, of course).  How do you plan on celebrating Halloween?

PS. I will remind you once more that there won't be a comic this weekend on account of a ridiculous amount of stuff going on.  However, if you're living in the Vancouver area, you can actually watch me draw comics at Anime Evolution: Akimatsuri.  Be there!

The Kiama

From the World of Trinita Setting Notes:

"Kiama have the potential to be the longest lived race in all of Etria, and are also said to be the oldest. Their teachings have been passed by song from Ancient to Seedling for generations, and their knowledge is invaluble for those hoping to study Etrian history.

Kiamas have a very distinctive lifestyle. They are first planted in the ground as a seed, and they usually emerge 3-6 months later as a seedling. The young seedling remains planted in the ground until their mobility enabling limbs are fully developed, a process that usually takes roughly ten years. During this time, they recieve an extensive schooling from the local Elders, who in turn are guided by an Ancient.

After a Seedling pulled from the ground to start their mobile life, they are called a Sapling. Young Saplings tend to be especially curious and energetic, and they use their newly developed limbs to explore the world around them. At the age of 20, a young Sapling's flower will begin to bloom. Once it does, the young Kiama becomes a sexually viable Seeder, and will remain in this state for the next 80 years.

A Seeder has both a single pollen receiving carpel, and pollen producing stamens. Seeders reproduce by way of dancing to song furiously enough to release their pollen, and usually they congregate in large groups to maximize their chances of fertilization. Upon fertilization, one ovule inside their head migrates to their belly and develops into a seed over the course of a few months. When fully developed, the seed is expulsed via the mouth, and then planted.

As a Kiama never stops growing, after a certain age, the Kiama's skin will start to become thick, and it will become more difficult to distinguish between a Kiama's limbs. Around the same time, the Kiama's flower will fall off, signalling their start as an Elder. As the Kiama slows down, they usually defer to the Ancient nearest by, taking advice as well as commands to help the plight of the younger members of their species.

By the age of 300, unless the Kiama is dead, they will find themselves getting too big and thick to move. At this point, then will replant themselves in the earth, using their feet and legs as roots. As an Ancient, a Kiama can live for up to another 200 years, offering their wisdom and guidance to younger members of the race."

Art of Trinita: Devionos' Throne Room

Concept art for Devionos' Throne Room, as we've seen in the last couple of updates.  I've actually been remarkably busy lately; I just got a new job, plus some friends have been visiting from out of town.  I will however, still keep up with the comic updates, and hopefully I'll be more consistent for Art Wednesdays as well.

The Map of Etria

From the World of Trinita Setting Notes:

"Etria is a continent roughly half of the size of our Australia. It contains a variety of binomes, plus bays and rivers, but the entire continent is roughly the shape of a triskelion, though the Regalo Bay area does represent an irregularity in this shape.

Politically, Etria has two major kingdoms, Trinita in the south, and Inferno in the north. There is a desert in between these kingdoms known as the Badlands which is an effective No Man's Land. Trinita has used this natural barrier to establish peace and prosperity in their kingdom, but Inferno, saddled with the worst land in the entire continent for various reasons, usually tries to invade Trinita once every few decades or so. It never works."

Trinita Prologue Cover Concept!

Concepts and Livestream
As we near the end of the fundraiser for the Prince of Trinita, Clink City, I thought that it would be a good idea to begin conceptualizing for the covers of the printing books, and I came up with this for the Prologue!

As for the Livestream this Saturday, I think I'll start it at 8:00 AM Pacific Standard Time, and run for a couple of hours or so, probably until noon.  I'll take requests, play silly videos, and we'll have a good time, so tell your friends about it!

Ciao!

Art of Trinita: A View of Clink City

I apologize for the delay in page updates once again, folks--as you know, it's about Chrstmas time.  I'll have the next page ready for Christmas Eve morning this weekend.

In the meantime, here is a picture of Clink City itself.  It's worthy to note that Clink City does appear a little differently in the comic (The windmills in particular are differently designed), but for the most part, the colour scheme is the same.

Anyway, happy holidays.  I'll wish you all a merry Christmas this weekend.

The Prince of Trinita Poster

It's almost time!  MiniComi (Link)  is this Saturday, and this webcomic will finally launch at noon then!

To commemorate the occaision, I have made a special poster.

For those of you living in the Vancouver area, MiniComi is a free convention taking place at UBC.  I will be sitting at table G4 in the Student Union Building.  I hope to see you there!
